Chinese Scroll Color Simulator
Choosing the mounting colors is always a headache after finishing a Chinese painting. When the framer asks me about the backing color for the scroll or the frame, I always hesitate and then struggle to describe what might be suitable. At an Art & Beyond poster show I got an idea: extract the painting’s main color palette and use those tones for the scroll or frame—would that be a beneficial approach? In practice I discovered a problem: the dominant colors extracted from most Chinese paintings tend to be low in saturation. To give more options, I added adjustable saturation and brightness sliders so users can tweak the colors more flexibly. Once the result is satisfactory, saving the image and sending it to the framer really removes a lot of communication friction. If you have a similar need, give this small app a try.
