Does Tomorrow Still Deserve Anxiety?
In July 2026, I plan to curate a youth art exhibition in Shanghai under the theme "Naturally." Through artworks inspired by the natural world, the exhibition explores the challenges young people face as they grow up. Much of the pressure modern adolescents experience in life, academics, and beyond stems from anxiety about an uncertain future. How do we strike a balance between two seemingly opposing choices? Do we plan our growth step by step to secure a safe future, or do we follow each person's inner rhythm and grow freely?
The piece 'Just This Once' employs artificial intelligence to simulate ten characters of various ages, genders, and skin tones, each of whom is transformed into one of ten natural creatures with remarkably short lifespans. Facing the camera, they each deliver a monologue that poses the same question: life is so fleeting—is tomorrow even worth the anxiety?
