Hi! I'm Cathy Shen. Welcome to my personal website!
You can appreciate my artwork (including Chinese traditional painting and works in other forms) and explore related expertise in the 'Online Gallery' category; read about my artwork research and art museum visit reports on the 'Art Blog' page; view my solo art exhibitions and curatorial practice on the 'Exhibitions and Curatorial Practice' page; browse the art-related activities (such as surveys, salons, education programs, lectures, club fairs, etc.) that I designed, organized, coordinated, and hosted on the 'Initiatives and Programs' page; and discover all of Art & Beyond's original mini-programs on the 'Mini-Program Highlights' page.
Cleo is a digital Maine Coon cat that I brought to life through AI. She is a companion I created, raised, and continue to care for. On this website, you can learn about her story on the 'CLEO' page.
I chose the name 'Art & Beyond' for this website because I want to dedicate it to creating a dynamic space where artistic discourse flourishes across borders, creative works find their place in the spotlight, and art appreciation blossoms.
By embracing and championing diverse artistic expressions—spanning traditional and contemporary painting, sculpture, photography, architecture, and cultural heritage—Art & Beyond unlocks the "palace of aesthetics" for all who seek entry. With art as our medium, aesthetics as our foundation, and academic learning as our reach, I champion a powerful truth: creativity transcends all borders, while beauty speaks in countless dialects. The capacity to perceive and interpret our world through an aesthetic lens isn't merely a skill—it's a fundamental human birthright. This instinct resonates within us all, waiting to be awakened and celebrated.
